Hump day feels
I left my phone on the table at home, put on my walking boots and took teddy & his ball out to the fields at lunch today!
I suddenly felt in desperate need of some fresh air, to take a breath away from this modern world of technology, to throw the ball for Teddy and watch him run back to me with a proud look on his face as he fetched the ball back to me, to live in the moment.
My First Marathon!
YESSSS I FINALLY DID IT!!
(Don’t worry, I’ll stop going on about it soon!)
Earlier this month I ran my FIRST MARATHON - THE LONDON MARATHON!
What are you willing to do?
So I’ve had a few weeks where motivation to train went downhill… a stinking cold hit… and I was generally feeling a bit meh!
But let’s bear in mind at this point we’re a month until I have to run the marathon…
Does cardio always have to be about weight loss?
So.. what do you think about when someone says “Cardio”?
Does it always need to be about how many calories can you burn? how hard you can push yourself? how much weight will you lose?
Heading back to the gym?
So today was a VERY EXCITING day for me…
GYMS ARE BACK OPEN IN THE UK!!!
Along with shops, salons and pub gardens… and it also turns out we now get April snow showers after waking up to a surprising sprinkling of SNOW first thing this morning!!!
I woke up early with a big smile on my face, absolutely buzzing with energy (like a very excited puppy being let out for a walk… god I wish I had a puppy!) and couldn't wait to get back into the gym… with actual people!!
Have you heard of the pancake diet?
No? Sounds good though right?
Ok seriously… there’s so many different diets out there… but the big question is which diet should you choose?
Keto? Weightwatchers? Slimming world? Low carb? (How???) Low fat?
Well today mine is coming with a dose of pancakes for pancake day!! (And no.. none of those “protein pancakes” - I’m talking the real deal!!)
Struggling with motivation to train?
Not to worry… it happens to me too!
I don’t know whether it’s because of how grey and cold it is outside, or the fact that we’re in our third lockdown with no end currently in sight & gyms are still shut, but this time round it’s definitely seeming a lot tougher to stay motivated!
How did you sleep last night?
Couple of questions for you to ponder before I get into things…
Do you find it easy to get to sleep at night? Do you stay asleep during the night or find yourself waking up regularly? Do you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day?
Now these are questions I regularly ask myself because I think sleep is a very important part of staying (both mentally & physically) healthy, being productive & feeling your best - Sleep is needed for rest, rejuvenation & detoxification of the brain!
Does lifting weights make you bulky?
Short answer. It depends.
I hear the concern when talking about weight training “But I don’t want to get bulky” - like people think by picking up a weight they will instantly turn into the Michelin man!
Firstly, people who look like work bloody hard to look like that and it takes time!
I’m going to tell you a little story about my experience with what people “bulking up”, aka, putting on a bit of muscle mass.
Allow me to introduce myself
Hello there lovely people!
Thought I’d start a blog as a way to share my experience of health, food & fitness… and lots of other things along the way… like maybe coffee (ok, definitely coffee!!)… tasty recipes… interesting things I’m learning… and if there’s anything else you would like me to know about then please feel free to comment below and I’ll see what I can do!
But first let me introduce myself and tell you a little about me and my world recently….
