Let’s talk about…

HAMSTRINGS

  • Your hamstrings can be found at the back of your thigh and are made up of three different muscles:

    • Bicep femoris

    • Semimembranosus

    • Semitendinosuss

    • Tilts the pelvis

    • Extends the hip

    • Bends the knee

    • To propel you forward and control stride length when running, jumping..

    • Helps with pelvic stability

    • Shortened range: Lying hamstring curl

    • Mid Range: Romanian deadlift

    • Lengthened Range: Hamstring bridge

    Note: the muscle will generally be at it's weakest in the shorted and lengthened ranges (hence why those damn hamstring bridges I make you hold can make those hammys feel rather crampy sometimes!!
