MUSCLES
Not sure what you should be feeling or why you are working certain muscles when you exercise?
Let’s talk about…
GLUTES
-
Your glutes can be found around back and side of your pelvis/hips.
We have three glute muscles
Gluteus maximus
Gluteus medius
Gluteus minimus
-
Extends the hip
Rotates the hip
Lifts leg out to the side (abduction)
Stabilises the pelvis
-
Pelvic alignment
Driving you forward during walking, running, jumping..
Helps to stabilise pelvis when standing on one leg
Supports the lower back and helps with bracing during lifting
Helps with knee alignment to reduce risk of knee injuries
-
Gluteus maximus: Glute bridges, hip thrusts, Romanian deadlifts
Gluteus medius/minimus: Single leg work such as split squats, lunges, single leg deadlifts, banded side steps, side lying leg lifts, clam shells, side planks
